Endometriosis and risk of ovarian cancer
While an association between endometriosis and ovarian cancer has been established, the magnitude of risk and association by type of endometriosis have been debated. A cohort study that matched nearly 79,000 patients with endometriosis to patients without the disease reported any endometriosis was associated with a fourfold increased risk of ovarian cancer, and deeply infiltrating endometriosis and/or endometriomas were associated with nearly 10-fold increased risk.
